JUSTICIA, PAZ E INTEGRIDAD DE LA CREATION: Comisión de USG y UISG
ICR at FAO Working Group
ABOUT ICR: The International Congregations of Religious (ICR) is a Catholic association of more than 20 international congregations of men and women religious. They have a total of 134,600 members who minister in almost every country, living and working among the people, many of whom are hungry.
MISSION: Filled with life by the Gospel message of hope, inspired through the teaching of the Social Doctrine of the Church, and challenged by the reality of continuing poverty and food insecurity in our world, the ICR members have come together to say ‘no more hunger’ and to work together with others to ensure that all people have adequate, nutritious food and the means to access it.
STRATEGY: The ICR shares the Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) campaign to eliminate hunger, consistent with the Gospel words to ‘feed the hungry.’ The 2009 reform of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) at the FAO gave ICR the opportunity for active participation in FAO by providing information and influencing the development of new and improved programs and policies. The ICR also informs member congregations about FAO policies and programs, so they can monitor their implementation and effectiveness at the local level.
